In 1997, Rahway Mayor, Jim Kennedy asked four people connected to the City to consider creating a non-profit Art Center to serve, with the already operating Union County Performing Art Center as anchors for an Arts District that was planned for downtown Rahway. After several months of meetings, these community arts people developed the plans to create the Arts Guild of Rahway, which in 2009 became Arts Guild New Jersey.
The founders of the Arts Guild incorporated the organization in 1998, planned programs for an inaugural season, renovated a building provided for us by the City of Rahway and opened for programming with a new gallery featuring an art exhibit series and a jazz concert series in January of 1999.
Since that time we have produced literally hundreds of arts and cultural events: dynamic art exhibits, jazz, folk, blues and classical music concerts, art talks, panel discussions, networking events for artists of all kinds, independent films, animated films and a steadily growing art education program of studio art classes for adults and children.
From March 1999 to our current art exhibit we have featured literally hundreds of artists from New Jersey, the metro area, across the US and from other countries in over 125 art exhibits showcasing artwork in a broad range of styles, mediums and genres.
Our patrons visit us from eighteen New Jersey counties and from several other states on a monthly basis. The Visual Arts has been a primary component of the constantly evolving activity at Arts Guild New Jersey. We have been fortunate to attract a strong audience of working artists and art-going public and over the years we have built a good reputation for the quality of artwork we present here and the themes of our exhibits which present an on-going view to the public of Contemporary Art.
With the exhibit: 15@15 we present fifteen of the many artists who have participated in past exhibitions here at Arts Guild New Jersey. They are: Patricia Brentano, Aric Calfee, Pam Cooper, Susan Evans Grove, Dan Fenelon, Grigory Gurevich, Lisa Ficarelli Halpern, Karen, Robert Kogge, Abby Levine, Karen Nielsen-Fried, William Oliwa, Sarah Petruziello, Carol Fein Schwartz, Fausto Sevilla, and Kelly Vetter. These talented artists represent the wide range of work we have presented at Arts Guild New Jersey for the past fifteen years.
